Growing up in New York City, Allan learned early how food and nature can bring people together. His father’s adventurous spirit — rooted in the tropical southern islands of the Philippines — sparked a lifelong love of the outdoors. His mother’s kitchen, filled with the flavors of Filipino and International cuisines, taught him that every meal can be an act of community.

Years later, after a career in leadership and culinary arts, Allan traded the city skyline for the open road. He, and his partner Erin, launched Basecamp Brooklyn — a way to share the joy of campfire cooking, outdoor living, and connection with others.

Today, Allan curates culinary camping weekends in the Catskills, helps outfit New Yorkers for their own camping adventures, and keeps the fire burning for everyone who wants to gather, explore, and savor life outdoors.
